Short Cut: Chilled out future pop.

Scenic Route: The husband/wife duo that make up New Look know what they are doing. They hit all the right notes in this perfect-for-nighttime selection. I was introduced to New Look by Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend. (Not in person of course, but via an interview.) It is always wise to check out the music that your favorite bands enjoy. Chances are the songs that influenced them, translated somewhat into the songs you dig. Pitchfork.com has a column called ‘Guest List’ where artists name their favorites, to include song of the year, of all time, venue, purchase, etc. Through this I have found Little Dragon, M83, and The Klaxons, and plan on finding more in the future.
